"Honey, rejection is a two-way street. You only know the male side of being rejected, how embarrassing it is, and how badly you feel. Think about the other side of the equation for just a bit. Think about a girl going to a dance with her girl friends because some boy hasn't asked her out. She has already been rejected once. At the dance she sits hoping that some boy will finally ask her to dance and yet when the dance ends no one has asked her to dance. Not once! She has now been rejected twice. Why? Perhaps her features aren't pretty. Perhaps she's overweight, or doesn't look like the school beauty queen, or maybe her hair isn't arranged in the popular style. There are as many reasons for a girl to be rejected as there are girls. How do you think she feels?"
With that Amy put her two hands to his cheeks and looking straight into his eyes, softly said, "Sweetheart, Big Sis and I know we're asking you to face the possibility of being rejected. We are also asking you to take that chance and at the same time to give the girls who have repeatedly been rejected to finally get the chance to dance with a hottie and to feel for just awhile like the queen of the ball."
